Manny (mannyrayner) I have been plugging Dominique de Saint-Mars's brilliant children's series for some time now... as close as you'll ever get to Balzac for eight year olds! I've so far read about 40 of the 99 titles. My shelf is here.

Aloha | 148 comments I should get those for Aloha Jr. She's studying French right now, which requires me to refresh mine.

Manny (mannyrayner) Do that! I have many recommendations on my shelf...

Manny (mannyrayner) I warn you, you may easily get hooked yourself :)

Aloha | 148 comments I wouldn't be surprised. I badly need a French refresher. I'm blowing all the dust off my French language books.

Aloha | 148 comments I'm looking at the books on Amazon. I don't think I should start the series with Le chien de Max et Lili est mort.

Aloha | 148 comments I just placed an order for Lili Est Fâchée Avec Sa Copine, since Aloha Jr. deals with girl friends problems all the time. Good practice for adult relationship problems. We'll be reading it together since I want to brush up on the language.

Manny (mannyrayner) Hey, I haven't read that one! I must get it. And girl friend problems are a constant theme in the series. The edgy relationship between Lili and Valentine (the Queen Bee) is extremely well done.

Aloha | 148 comments It just came in. It's a cute little book. I didn't realize it's more of a graphics novel.
