OK I just finished watching this movie. If you don't mind foul language, this is a fun movie. Two best friends, Zack and Miri, live together and share the fact that they are both dirt poor. Neither of them have jobs that get them through their monthly bills. The water gets cut off, and other amenities seem to disappear as well. Miri cooerces Zack into going to their High School reunion. She has had a crush on one guy throughout High School and is on a mission to sleep with him at least once. Of course he did attended the reunion, unfortunately he is gay.
His partner is a porn star which gives them the idea of making a porno to make money.

Well the "sweet" part of the movie, at the end, is that they realize that they love each other but they don't accept it easily.

The movie is fun, the language is over the top.

So my question to all of you is do you think it works out when you fall in love with your best friend? And, do you think male/female friendships work?

Phillip | 10494 comments i have never seen this one, but i'd like to address your questions.

1) i've never fallen in love with a best friend. i did know someone really well for about two years and eventually we became romantic. i guess i should have answered yes to the question. the relationship didn't work out. once we became closer, there were aspects of her personality that came out that really surprised me. it really caused me to question the pre-existing "friendship".

2) i have LOTS of female friends. that may be because i'm a musician and there are a lot of great women musicians here in the bay area. i make it a point NOT to get into relationships with any of them...it's a little too incestuous, if you know what i mean. so yeah, i have lots of women friends, and you just don't "go there" in your thoughts. these are really satisfying friendships...i'd be lost without some of them. i have quite a few women friends that aren't musicians too...again, great friendships; totally essential to my well-being.

Holli I didn't see this movie Meg but I'll take a stab at your questions.

1. I've been in love with my best guy friend...twice in fact. I think that it made it easier to fall in love and easier on the relationship that we were friends first. The problem with the first one was that when you put us in the relationship mode we didn't have as much to talk about because now we didn't feel free to say whatever was on our mind. In other words...we couldn't deal with the drama that being in a romantic relationship brings and so it ended. We didn't want to lose each other as friends though and so we've remained close but obviously not "best" friends anymore. The relationship I'm in right now is working out nicely though and he's been one of my best friends since I high school.

2. Yes female/male friendships work. I've had a million of them and I still have them. i love my guy friends.

Meg (megvt) | 362 comments Well I have seen so many guy/girl friendships that one gets hurt because one of them really has different feelings other than friendship. It has always been kind of scary for me because if it doesn't work out you lose two peopleL your good friend and then your boy/girlfriend. It becomes a scary next step.

Holli Its a very tricky situation to move that friendship to a deeper level...takes two very mature people who understand each other really well to keep the friendship when the love part doesn't work out so great.

Phillip | 10494 comments yeah, that one friendship that i cited that moved into romantic territory was a bad idea. we were together for about 5 years, but as holli said, i think it really kept her in particular from remaining really open with the communication. that was what made it fall apart, i think.

i'm really up front with someone if i have romantic feelings for them. i'm not good at keeping quiet. i'm really good about managing my feelings, and not let myself fall for someone that i'm good friends with (like i was saying above, i have a lot of woman friends who are musicians, and it's easy for me to keep those platonic).
