Not so long ago, at most 200 years ago, a young woman was in love with a man. She was the mother of 3 kids, but he didn't want any kids.
So she took the children to the Rio Grande, and drowned them. She then went back to her love and told him what she did.
He was so shocked and told her that he would never love her again unless the children could be saved.
She ran back to the river to save her children but they were already dead. Filled with grief, she drowned herself. Now legend has it that every night she will come out and drag anyone, unlucky enough to get too close to the water, into the river and drown them.
