Horror Books

Hey, i was wondering for any suggestions on books that will actually scare the living shit outta me. Most "horror" books that I've read really aren't scary and I wondering if you guys will show me a book that will actually make me scared to go to bed.

I've personally found that books never really "scare" me in the sense I think you're looking for--like the creeped-out adrenaline scares I get from a Silent Hill video game or something.

Closest I've found to books scaring me were: House of Leaves, The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch and IT--although I read It when I was 14 and clowns scare the shit out of me so I guess it's kind of subjective.
