Bullying -- both adult and youth. Why do humans feel the need for power over others?

message 2: by Zen (new)

Zen (zentea) Control. And absolute power corrupts absolutely, right?

message 3: by Muphyn (new)

Muphyn that's a good question, Angie - I have to think about that one. Why do we want power and control others?

message 4: by Celestasaurus (new)

Celestasaurus I think it's about self-esteem issues. Bullies feel better about themselves by putting other people down. When people have power over others, they feel bigger than them.

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I think Celeste is right on the money. The only way they can feel good about themselves is if everyone else is put in a position lower than themselves.

Andrea Kulman (AndreaKulman) | 13 comments I agree with Celeste.

What did you think about the bullying in this book?

So far in this book I find the bullying sad. I mean for example when that freshman is walking to class in a hurry and that guy forces him to go and buy him some cigarettes. That is one of the reasons I enjoyed college so much more then high school. Not that college doesn't have it's clicks and stuff but there really isn't so much bullying.
