Episode 1 is all about the outline. Were you ever forced to write one before your essays in school? Did you hate them? Love them? A lot of authors love writing outlines before they begin drafting. Others hate it.

What do you think? Is an outline a good thing or a bad thing?

I always feel outlines should be very minimal- as essays..and I assume books- tend to become living documents as one writes them- twisting and turning - so too rigid an outline can be overly confining

I so agree! I've tried to come up with outlines for my novels, just really general ones with the largest events of the story, and I completely can't do it. I love the things I come up with as I'm going along. I think I'd hate sticking to an outline.

But weirdly, when I write papers for school, an outline can help me make it a more focused paper. Maybe it's just what kind of thing you're writing.
