Rudrangshu Das I think you should try Forever War by Joe Haldeman. Although its quite different from Roadside Picnic, as in it has many more futuristic concepts and much more action. But its classic sci-fi nonetheless.
Another book that comes to my mind is Never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguro. I am not sure if it qualifies as Sci Fi, but its a nice thought provoking book, which deals with the theme - what does being human mean?

Teddy G thank you, I'll start Forever War. read the comics a long time ago. it was great.

Fai Perdido Street Station... its also different from Roadside picnic, which is super good, but this is mind-blowing in its own way.
