Identify something that has happened in the novel that was directly cause by Brian's actions.
Was it positive or negative?
What could Brian have down differently?

In Hatchet (I haven't read Brian's Winter in a very long time) when the pilot had a heart attack and died, Brian took the wheel of the plane and drove it on and on. He innicially let the plane run out of fuel (he could've used) and crash. Then since he didn't land it earlier, he was so far off course that only one search plane came out to look for him.
If he had crash landed the plane earlier he would've had fuel he could've used AND he would've had a greater chance of being found.
