Ruth will read.

Melia Poor Laurie!

Emily Rule The broadway musical is also fantastic! I bawled all through the second act and LOVE the cd.

Kristin I love this book. I also enjoyed "Little Men" and "Jo's Boys".
I also highly recommend "Eight Cousins" and "Rose in Bloom".
LMA has some great short stories as well. I just generally love her as an author.

Kako OH! I love this book! IT totally reminded me of my sisters, and it made me in an all inspired mood!

Clare D' Lune I thought it was good for a classic, and it had some good parts, but was a little too long... she kinda dragged it out....

Shaeeza Haniff My absolute most favorite book of all times. I've lost count of how many times I've read this book and every time, I never want to put it down

ضحى الحداد it is a good book , bur so so so looonnng it took me 3 weeks to finish it

Sonya madden i loved this one as a kid. I had a whole collection of classics. BLACK BEAUTY (must read if you love horses), OLIVER TWIST, AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS, TOM SAWYER (a fave) HUCK FIN (a fave). many others. I didn't know they were classics when I was in grade school.

Debbie I DETESTED this book! I also disliked "March" by Geraldine Brooks because she captured so ably the style of Alcott.

The only highly recommended classic I dislike more is Uncle Tom's Cabin.

Anne Whenever I think of reading "Little Women", I think about the spring/early summer I spent reading this book. I still have my originial hardback copy my sister gave me one year for Christmas. Such a good book! And I own two versions of the movie. When I bought my Nook last month, this book was one of the freebies BN had already preloaded. Very excited to have it on the Nook. Will re-read again one day.

Susan One of my favorite books of all time. When I got my Nook and Little Women was pre-loaded, of course I had to re-read it! :)

ItsJustMe I loved this book. Alcott has done a very good job here and I recommend this book to everyone.

Atarah Poling This was and still is one of my favorite books of all time. It's a classic and I really enjoy the classics. Not to mention the hardships these sisters have to face. Alcott did an amazing job

Lana(: Deffinitely a must read classic!! Alcott is a very talented and passionate writer(:

Laura Birks I really enjoyed reading this book though I'm not sure why. It's not a book I would normally read but I've recently started reading through all the classics I have on the book shelf at the moment. This book was the first I picked up and it was a brilliant book to start with! It wasn't too difficult to read, I found the characters to be interesting and the story to be quite engaging. I wouldn't say this book was my fave of all the classics I've read so far but I definitely enjoyed it and would re-read it again in the future. :)

Gwen I read this when I was quite young - an adolescent. One of the things that impressed me was the idea that girls could chose their friends and their husbands. And that it was well worthwhile making wise choices.

Not that I followed the advice, but it was valuable anyway.

Abbie Riddle I read Little Women, Little Men, Jo's Boys, Eight Cousins and others as a child - then again in my teen years. In fact as a gift my great grandfather gave me a complete set of books with with the first publishing date. Absolutely can not wait to let my children read these. I home school and have all the classics lined up for them to read.

Soumya Kamatham Doha wrote: "it is a good book , bur so so so looonnng it took me 3 weeks to finish it"

i totally agree but it took me 2 days to finish so long.
i usually take three hours to read books.
but this took my whole energy to read. i downloaded it form ebooks so it was so straining my eyes cause i was reading in ipod.

Terquoise awesome book. One of the few that has a some excellent movie adaptations- I'm partial to Christian Bale (from empire of the sun-another great book to movie adaptation) so that may make a little biased tho..

Soumya Kamatham oh

Sarah I have finished the book in the beginning of the summer. Should I see the movie?

Leslie One of my top ten favorites of all time!

Kathy Hale This is the book I would read when I watched a scary story to help calm me down.

ضحى الحداد Hate Jo .. LOVE Laurie

Ariel Yep. Pretty awesome. One good classic!!

(I don't mean it like, at least there's ONE good classic...it's ONE OF THE good ones.)

message 30: by Gin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Gin Tadvick All time favorite classic. Read my mom's copy as a child. Then read all the other related books, Eight Cousins etc. Love them all. Re-read and read to my daughter when she was young. Purchased the DVD when it came out so that we could have a chick moment together and both of us cried buckets!

Michele Perry A brilliant, brilliant read! Love the characters, the storyline, the family values and the sister's bond, to name but a few. It is such a lovely read. Totally recommend this tale!!

Soumya Kamatham Doha wrote: "Hate Jo .. LOVE Laurie"

yep

I'm home schooled, and I think that's what got me into reading and classics. People judge, but they're just ignorant about what home schooled means. Good for you!

Rhonda I first read Little Men because it appeared on my bookshelf when I was six. Later read other books by LMA because I liked the first. Love Jo's attitude towards living life and not over-worrying impressions of others. This is such a calm, easy read between some of my more action-thriller reads this summer!

I with you. I read them all in grade school as well. In fact, I believe they came with the Encyclopedia Britannica set we had. Didn't know they were classics then. I just read everything in sight.

Eloise i like this book but enjoyed good wives more...

Nattaporn This is the first book I read and make ms love to read.

Miriam I have the movie little women

Aditi *the bookworm* Burman I love this book, the movie, the characters and the lovely sisters.

Sherrie Lowe My mum used to read this book to me and my sister when we were children because it had been her won favourite as a child. She died when I wass thirteen so the memories of that special time together are very precious and as such I love this book

Chiara One of the best books ever written...love it!

Cherie Wow, I never imagined someone not liking Little Women until I read through this thread. I have always loved it, and tried to get my girls to read it, but they were never interested. I read all of LMA's books this summer and still feel the same. As for movies, my most favorite one was with Peter Lawford as Laurie. I also read Uncle Tom's Cabin this summer, and I liked it too, but not as much as LW.

Anastasia damyan this book is a book i would not normally read. I have read it about 15 times, and it never ever gets old, and i cry every single time. Its something i read for comfort. beautiful story!!!!!!!!! i would recommend it!

Margaret I read and reread this so many times as a child that I almost had the first chapter memorized. For my last birthday my sister found the exact copy we had growing up and gave it to me. I wanted to be Jo, but really was a combination of Meg and Beth.

Anastasia damyan who is your favorite character? and why! meg and amy kind of annoy me. Beth is a sweet girl, not a mean bone in her body-

Eloise Anastasia wrote: "who is your favorite character? and why! meg and amy kind of annoy me. Beth is a sweet girl, not a mean bone in her body-"
