This was a fun book! I thought Daemon was rude at first but I knew he was trying to protect his family and his alien secret. When Daemon and Katy finally make out and the lap top blows it was so hot! I loved Dee. She was nice and fun.
Initially I thought Daemon was a douchebag.. but he came around. It shows the lengths that he would go through to protect his sister. Dee was sweet, but a little too chipper for me. Katy was just perfect in my opinion. I applaud JLA for this series. It is well written, very swoonworthy, funny, frustrating, and interesting. And what better way to show respect for the blogging community than to make them a heroine in one of your books?!
Oh yes I almost forgot! One of my favorite things about Katy is her love for books and blogging! When she talks about going to the mail for ARCs and making her waiting on Wednesday post! Loved it!
This is one of my favorite books! I loved the writing style, and I loved that Katy was a blogger and loved books :D I liked Katy, she wasn't really wimpy like a lot of main girl characters in books. I thought Daemon was a jerk, but you couldn't help but love him, lol. Of course, that scene in the cafeteria was just plain mean. But I loved how protective he was of Dee, and how much he cared about her. I liked Dee, she was very hyper, haha. All in all, it's a great book!
Yes I liked that Katy stood up to Daemon. Even though you could tell she liked him she didn't let him get away with his rude attitude. Dee was cute and very hyper. Daemon was mean but I did like that he was so protective of his sister.
I really only have to say that i love Daemon !!! Yeah right he's ok almost bad with kate in a start but then OMG her personality her body her smile jaja i love totally!!!! i can't wait for the next!!!!!!!Daemon i love you !!!!!!!!!! ♥♥♥
Kate - blogger - books (ok it's me jaja)
Dee is very sweet
All the book it's so amazing!!!!!! Ok i'm obsessed yeah
Loved, loved, loved this book. It was one of those books that I kept seeing as a suggestion but when I heard it was about aliens I thought "eh." But finally gave it a try and it became as instant favorite. Don't you love when that happens?Katy had a "real" personality. She was never one way or another. I felt true emotions through her character.
Daemon was fantastic. I loved how he came around and stopped fighting his prejudices.
Obsidian is so good! I agree, the alien theme doesn't appeal to many fans, but JLA is such a great writer that you wouldn't even care if this book was about unicorns.I definitely recommend this to everyone! Whether you're stuck on some book, bored out of your mind, or just looking for a book to read, this is it. THIS IS IT
LOL It was actually the aliens that made me want to read this. I loved the show Roswell. This has a few similarities so I really loved it. I like the powers they have. The evil dark aliens seem really creepy.

No matter how cute he is, when he talks to her like she's worthless, I think she'd kick him to the curb. I'll keep reading though because everyone says it makes sense later. :)

I think you will love this book!
I just finished Obsidian and I really enjoyed it :) Katy was an awesome character!! One of the best characters I have ever read, best YA main character. She kicked ass and stood up to dickhead Daemon. I didn't like Daemon, but I did kinda feel a bit sorry for him in the end, when I read his little part because he really liked Katy but he still was a dick. So yeah, he doesn't deserve her. But it was a gooooood book and I cannot wait til my mum buys me the next one :P
I overall thought the book was pretty good, I'm not an overly gushy fan of it but it was definitely a fun read and I bought the sequel. I didn't care for Daemon at all though, I just thought he was a jerk and wished Katy would find someone more likeable. Being "Hot" is no excuse for being a total jerk, whether you are protecting your family or not. The only time I found myself liking Daemon at all where the last few additional scenes that were written from his POV.

Yeah I agree there really is no good excuse for being a jerk. Daemon was funny and I did end up liking him but he isn't anywhere near my top 10 or anything. He was more likable in Onyx but I understood Katy wanting to move on away from him.

I really, really enjoyed the book. Mainly because of Katy. I felt like I could connect to her character on a real level. She loved books, she wrote a blog, she doesn't have that killer bod, and she's sarcastic. I felt like I was reading about myself. And her attraction to Daemon wasn't immediate although she did find him hot (who wouldn't I suppose). And I'm forever cursed to love bad boys with tragic pasts. Thus I loved Daemon no matter how douche-y he treated her. Because the moments he didn't they were so perfectly sweet together. Dee was ok. Peppy isn't my thing but really it was her name that got me. In the end I wanted to know more about Dawson (which I'll be getting this winter :) ). All in all I loved the times that Katy and Daemon just ripped into each other and then when they made out. Cuz that was pretty damn hot.
I stumbled upon this book when I first signed up with Goodreads. I was a little hesitant to read a book about aliens but thought I'd give it a chance because of the great reviews. I ended up falling in LOVE with book and finished it in one sitting. I love Daemon's character. I don't know what it is about the "bad ass, I'm hiding a secret character" I enjoy but I thought he was amazing. It took me a while to like Katy. I found her a tad bit boring in the beginning but as the book progressed her character became more interesting. This rates high on my angst romance list.
Finished this book last night and gave it four stars. I liked the alien premise and the pacing was great. Honestly, the four stars was more for Jennifer's voice than anything. The story might have been a bit predictable or formulaic but, in the end, that didn't bug me as much as I thought it was going to. The characters were likable, well most of them. :) I really liked Katy. Daemon was a litte too heavy on the jerky side for my taste, but Katy helped me (sort of) forgive him. Lol. It's a solid four star story. :)
i read this book very quickly. i loved it. it reminded me of reality tv. you know that it's no good for you to engage with it but once you get started you're hooked. i want the next book to have daemon be a humble pie...and for katy to make him suffer just a little bit. lol he deserves it

lol yeah the next book is like that a bit! Daemon wants her but Katy does make him suffer.

Damon,s a great character tough on the outside, sweet in the middle. Kat is a lucky girl, I,ll take a Damon Black. Great series.....
Tracey wrote: "Damon,s a great character tough on the outside, sweet in the middle. Kat is a lucky girl, I,ll take a Damon Black. Great series....."yep! i have read all 3 parts and can't count how many times have i read them all.
Yes Opal was a killer! I really loved Daemon in Opal though. He was super sweet and romantic where in the other two he drove me crazy. lol
I am reading Opal now. You guys got me anxious to finish it now.I loved Obsidian. What I loved most about it was that it wasn't an Insta-Love romance. They didn't see each other and knew instantly they had to be together. Still, you felt the chemistry between the two. Daemon Black is my book crush and Kat was a refreshing change from many of the heroines in some of the YA books I've read recently.
Opal was probably my favorite! I hate insta-love but it was nice to finally see Katy and Daemon working together as a great team in Opal. But the ending :-( I need the next book desperately! I am also excited to get both Katy and Daemon's POV in the next one.

Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is.
How did you like Daemon? Sweet or mean or both? lol Dee? Katy? Leave your thoughts!
