Melanie Forgive me for adding this topic Zakiya and Meghan and please move it if it is in the wrong place but I just want to clarify some questions.

For the 100 point task, do you have to follow alphabetical order as in ABCDE or can you do BCEG etc?

My ideas for books are:

1. Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott
2. 84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff
3. The Dance of 17 Lives by Mick Brown
4. The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff
5. Seven Years in Tibet by Heinrich Harrer
6. Six Wives: The Queens of Henry VIII by David Starkey
7. A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
8. Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace ... One School at a Time by Greg Mortenson
9. The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas
10. Twenty Years After by Alexandre Dumas

Is this order correct or am I way off base?

Melanie 35.1: National Beheading Day - Read 3 books where at least a third of the person's face is missing. *Think of dividing the face into eyes, nose, and mouth.*

1. The Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie by Agatha Christie
2. Missing by Thomas Hauser by Thomas Hauser
3. Ricochet by Sandra Brown by Sandra Brown

Do these cover the criteria of a third of the face missing?

It's fine! I should've added this already anyway.

For 100, I wanted you to put the books in numerical order, that way it's easier to tell if you've repeated a number, etc. I'll go back and specify this in the task.

For the faces, the first two are good, but I would say pick another for the third. You can still see one eye.

message 4: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (piperbunny) Could we wait until March before we post then so they're all in order or are we supposed to read them in numerical order? :)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 895 comments Mod
You can read them in whatever order you want; so waiting is fine by me :). But you'll have to post to claim your points by Feb 28th because I close the topics on the first of March.

Melanie- I can see how you assumed to list them by author. I was putting the A-Z/Z-A thing for people that get ascending and descending order confused. I changed it, though :)

message 7: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (piperbunny) Yeah, sorry, until February! :)

message 8: by Melanie (new)

Melanie I see what you mean now. I was going to be cheeky and read some of the Stephanie Plum books. Might work now. Lol

LOL! You're welcome hehe ;)

Your 100 pt task is all set! Love how you were able to do the first ten #s exactly :).

The Margaret George book will work for 35.1

message 14: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Thanks Zakiya, I found most of the numbered books at the library. I own The Power of One, A Tale of Two Cities and Three weeks with my brother but the rest will be from the library.

That's pretty good right there! I barely ever go to the library anymore; if I did most of my challenges probably wouldn't be so hard.

It is probabLy a good thing I don't go to the library. I have way too many books around my house to read.

message 20: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Me too Megha. My husband said I can't walk out of a book shop/library or newsagent wihtout a new books. lol

This challenge period I am focusing more on my own books so hopefully I will work through a good stash of them.

Kristin Is Typee considered a historical novel?

message 23: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Kristin wrote: "Is Typee considered a historical novel?"

Do you mean Typee: A Peep at Polynesian Life by Herman Melville?

It doesn't say when it is set in the blurb on Goodreads, do you know when it is set?

I tend to think of Historical books as books that are set 50 or more years ago. I think I read that Historical Fictions are 50 or more years prior to make it historical so maybe go with that criteria.

I will let Zakiya or Maghan give the final word but that is how I think of it. Hope this helps.

message 24: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Kristin, I just read on Amazon that it was set around 1841 so I dare say it will fit this task.

message 25: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 278 comments Mod
Yes historical for this tasks sake will be 50 years or more.

Would 11/22/63 work for the 100.1 number task? And if so what would I count it as 11?

message 29: by Zakiya (last edited Jan 18, 2013 06:30PM) (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 895 comments Mod
Yeah, that'll work. Just count it as 11.

Diana S Question? Task 35.1 National Beheading Day

Would these two books count?
A Wallflower Christmas (Wallflowers, #5) by Lisa Kleypas (no heads on all 3 women)
Portrait of an Unknown Woman by Vanora Bennett (the man in front of the first woman- his head is missing)

message 33: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 895 comments Mod
Yep, those are fine! As long as a third of the face is missing, you're good :).

message 34: by Melanie (new)

Melanie For Task 35.4, what age is a girl up to?

I read Snow White & the Huntsman, Snow White is 17 for the majority of the book, would that be classed as girl or women?

I tend to think of woman as 18 and over but I could be wrong. lol

message 35: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) | 895 comments Mod
girl. We'll say girl is 19 and below.
