I've started reading this. So far, I'm not sure what I think.

Janis (paintability) | 21 comments I read this a long time ago, so will read it again to refresh my memory...

I read a little bit more. So far, I'm thinking the main character, Laura, is very naive. Her grandmother is obviously very ill and she believes her family's story that it's only some dental problems??

I haven't started this one yet but I'm almost finished The Road to Wigan Pier so will be starting it within a few days. I'm looking forward to it as a pre-curser to The Last Days of the Romanovs: Tragedy at Ekaterinburg.

Sometimes it's ok to look back - I find that it's the books that stick with us in some way that bear a re-read! - do you remember much of this one?

Its a little bit in the style of Anna Karenina...lots of words, not much action! - I'm only two chapters in so I'm going to have to get a wriggle on with this one!

Janis (paintability) | 21 comments Read it a few years ago and liked it a lot...I prefer character driven books so it was right up my alley..
