Hailey I lOved Mockingjay everyone I know and who have read them say "It sucks! It's not interesting it's not good." and so On.
But personally I loved it.
It was good:D

Hailey Yes a lot of people say that and I understand the ending is frustrating some people say the whole book is boring that's false to me I liked the book except the terrible ending but besides that it was good:D

Jessica NO it was shit. Why would the writer wreaked her last book. Cos the hunger games was awesome.. Why why why ????

I liked the ending fine. The second was my favorite book but I thought the writer did a good job ending the series. You are not alone.

100% agree - great post, very well written

Erin O'Riordan Mockingjay is my favorite of the trilogy. It's not easy to read emotionally, but it's very brave and honest. Nobody's happy about Finnick and Prim, but sad losses do happen in wars, so it's just realistic.

TJ No you're obviously not the only one ha. I really enjoyed Mockingjay. Hunger Games was my favorite in the trilogy, but I definitely didn't see Mockingjay as a disappointment. I can see the point everyone makes about not liking it because of the ending, but honeslty, I don't think it should have been written any other way. It was an approriate finale to the trilogy and I loved it.

Woah, that fanfiction was AMAZING!!! I only read the first chapter though, so far so good!

Allison I definitely struggled with the change of pace and tone in Mocking Jay, it was completely different from the first two books. I went through so many emotions while reading, mostly anger but also horror, grief, and desolation. I realize this was the author's intent, to show the affect war has on all participants. But I was hoping for more hope. I saw in Peeta the potential for great leadership but he never got the chance. I was angry that District 13 was just as bad as the Capitol. I felt like no matter which side won the war, no one really won. Its not a good feeling. I agree with what many of you said about it being realistic, and it is rare that a book will actually move me to tears the way this one did.

Brie I loved it. I'm so sick of people who complained about it. I really appreciated how realistic the effect of the war and the sudden culture change had on Peeta and especially Katniss. She was broken by what happened and people who can't appreciate how masterfully Collins dealt with youth and culture in war and it's consequences, don't know how to read. Katniss didn't belong in the world of Panem any more, just like Frodo didn't belong in Middle Earth after the War of the Ring. Gale, the one person she trusted, the person she counted on to all ways help her through tough times, has essentially killed the only person she was sure she loved, the sister she suffered so much to protect. It would be so difficult to look around and realize, no matter how harsh and cruel it had been, the world you knew, the world in which you knew your place and how to survive, that world was gone over night.
On top of all that the post-traumatic stress she and Peeta suffered. It really did hurt to read and it hurt to know that there are people who really suffer like that. This wasn't a happy ending but it was a perfect ending, and I'm so glad to realize that I'm not alone in believing that!

I personally LOVED Mockingjay! It was amazing!!! And i thought it was very satisfying!

Sophie Mockingjay was my FAVORITE of the series. Honestly, it was so intense and made me feel several emotions that I am not experienced of feeling! It was fantastic!

Giomar Silva I think most people don't like the end because they feel it works like some sort of trap. You see, the first book is sold like a harmless YA adventure tale and reader's expectations are that in the end the good guys will win and live happily ever after, the bad guys will lose and die horrible deaths, Katniss will fall in love, etc. Expectations are that Mockingjay will be full of action since it narrates the war (war=lots of fun/entertainment), but turns out that the author chooses another path. And very cleverly she takes the reader exactly where she wants to go. To use an expression that is often used in the book (and that's no coincidence), when Collins finally has you "like fish in a barrel" she is merciless. But war is merciless, too. This book is devastating and is also the best of the trilogy.

Ann Gimpel Well, from the perspective of another author, the book had issues. The characters were pretty two dimensional and the plot had large fracture lines. Someone who hadn't read the first two books would never have warmed to any of the characters. I didn't care that the ending was less than happy. It was how the author led us to that ending that was bothersome.

Becca I really disliked Mockingjay. It didn't satisfy me at all. I am sitting here thinking, "Whats gonna happen, whats gonna happen?" Gale, one of my favorite characters went to hell in this book. He was all "No survivors, no survivors"

I don't fancy this book.

Sharon I'll echo what others have said which was I loved Hunger Games, was disappointed with Catching Fire but thought Mockingjay was better and it ended the series well.

Sheechiibii I liked Mockingjay. I felt like it was rushed in a lot of places and the very end was pretty dissapointing with the lack of details but on the whole I loved the book.
