RandomAnthony | 14536 comments A couple days ago I was driving home from work and I saw a Nebraska license plate. My first thought was, "Larry is from Nebraska."

This "real life reminds me of goodreads" phenomenon has happened on other occasions. For example, when I was looking through garden catalogs not long ago I saw some new sage varieties, and I thought "Sally was married in a sage field" and anything related to Madison now reminds me of Jim. All Latino actors now remind me of Heidi, although I know she's really only into one, I just can't remember which one. Trader Joe's will now remind me of Gus (although technically that's a facebook thing). Lizards will be Leslie. Sorry, Leslie.

I don't mean to leave anyone out, there are other examples as well, but these are the first that come to mind. Please. Tell me I'm not the only one to whom this happens.

I was just talking about snails with three children about twenty minutes ago (not the mating habits, just the general cuteness)!

This is a nice thread that made me smile. :D

Leslie | 777 comments That's ok, I'm fine being associated with cute little reptiles! I still call Anthony Rom-donthany in my head, cause I thought it was as Indian name, not Random Anthony, and it's fun to say it like that! If I hear the name Mindy, I think of Mindy on here, not any other Mindy.

I can't believe I missed this thread. I'm so flattered, RA.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (Stacia_R) Wait...that's not LG.

I'm offended that RA was not thinking of me in 2009, long before I ever joined GR.

I think about y'all often.

GET HIM, STACIA!!! And fuss at him about the gigglesnort hotel post that he hadn't posted yet too, please. You tell him. :)

Just don't do him any permanent damage. We would miss him after a while.

I want to know, why was Sally married in a sage field?

message 21: by Misha (new)

Misha (ninthwanderer) Huh. I don't even recall being on TC as far back as January 2009. I may have come and gone once or twice before I stuck. That's actually a positive reflection on the group, because for a long time I didn't really think GR groups were my scene (hence the coming and going), but it was TC that finally convinced me.

message 22: by Gus (new)

Gus Sanchez (GusSanchez) I was thinking of RA when I read this article:

Zack Greinke fractures rib while playing...basketball?

message 23: by Barb (new)

Barb TC bleeds into my world all the time.
When watching Modern Family the other week, I thought of RA ... when Phil was getting his hair cut by Gloria and her boobs were all in his face.

message 25: by smetchie (new)

smetchie | 4024 comments I've said this somewhere before but there is a dad at my daughter's daycare that looks like RA and every time I see him I think that. For years now.

I saw a funny vintage "Lobstergirl" poster in Atlantic City a couple months ago which, obviously, made me think of LG. I think I even took a picture with my phone but then forgot to do anything with it.

FUCK this drove me insane. Stupidass Greinke.

Uh...why did you think of me when Gloria had her boobs in Phil's face, Barb?

I think of Smetchie whenever I hear music that reminds me of Smetchie.

Today I heard there was an earthquake in Asia and I got worried about Gail.

message 32: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Dairy Queen.

Kevin's comment made me laugh hard enough to disturb my son watching ESPN.

Today when I did laundry I thought of Britt and hoped my washer wouldn't break.

Also today I was at the library and saw a teenage library page wearing a short skirt and thought Jackie should talk with this girl about library pervs then send her home to change.

Sally wrote: "LG I was married in a mountain meadow near Longs Peak and the field was bordered with aspens and filled with wild sage."

One of my best friends was married in a mountaintop meadow in Colorado. Not far from Telluride. Even so, I think it was a pretty expensive wedding. Her parents rented some very upscale Portapotties, but once it got dark and you went inside one, you couldn't tell if the seat was up or down. It led to some errors.

message 46: by Meels (new)

Meels (Amelia) My BIL once said, "You talk about them like they're real people!" in reference to goodreaders. I had to laugh when I responded that you all are actually real people, not figments of my imagination.

So, as you can see, you all come to mind all the time. For me, the reminders go back pretty far. I think of Sarah Girl whenever I go to a play, she's still here somewhere, but she stopped going into groups as far as I know way back in the mini am days. Just today I noticed for the first time that my commute to work passes the Portland Medical Cannabis Club and I thought of Mau. Any little goth kid makes me think of Kowalski (...or pooping at work). Ficus fig trees will now and forever more make me think of Larry, Phil and Jim. Any weird, arbitrary, probing question that seems to have no purpose - RA! :) When I watch rugby I think of Gail and SP. In fact, nearly every time I have to explain to my husband all over again who Gail and Sarah are...I'm pretty sure he thinks you're figments of my imagination too. All libraries are Jacks, or whenever I get the "what's your dream job?" question signing into my online bank account, that makes me think of Jacks too. I could go on and on and on.

You are for sure not alone, RA.
