Elizabeth wrote: "I read the review about Jane being lame and it made me laugh. She IS kind of the Pollyanna of the book. What did you guys think? "I can see how Jane can be called a Polkanna. I can also see that Jane and Mr Bingley are foils to Liza and Mr Darcy. As in Flexible vs Determined.
Hi,I'm new here.
I really like to follow Portuguese, Brazilian and English history in particular.
Thanks
Tiago
I like her because she so nicely contrasts Elizabeth and brings out stuff in each of their characters. And a lot of people are like that, and it's funny what Elizabeth says about her.
When Elizabeth’s opinion gets too far, Jane stops her. She is quiet, but, she is not easily led by others, she has her own mind, which I like.Who sucks? To me, it is Mrs Weston and Mrs Gardiner. They are handy guides to young ladies, and handy to have them in the stories!
I disagree, to me Jane was intelligent, but she was the polar opposite of Lizzy. Lizzy would settle for nothing less than what she felt like she deserved, but Jane knew that she needed to marry decently in order to please her mother and father and set herself up in the world. She let herself fall in love and see the better side of people instead of focusing on faults ( that is not a slight and Lizzy ... I love her a lot : ) ).
