Najzanimljiviji likovi ovde nisu Romeo i Julija već pre svega Merkucio, a zatim monah Lorenco i Julijina dadilja. Štaviše, mogu da zamislim jednu veoma zanimljivu inscenaciju u kojoj bi Merkucio bio centralni lik – potreban je samo malo drukčiji dramski raspored, sve što je trebalo da se kaže već je tu. Merkucijev odnos prema Romeu je golicljivo intrigantan, treba pažljivo utonuti u tekst i registrovati mnogobrojne, neretko višestruko lascivne poruke među dvojicom. Ово је реално врло добра трагедија, али након феноменалног Тита Андроника, у којем је на свакој страници било по 5-6 мртвих, човјек не може а да се не осјети донекле изневјерено превеликом количином причања и премалом количином умирања. Истина, ово је Шекспир, а не нека тамо добитница НИНове награде, тако да су и ти (предуги) монолози донекле вриједни читања, али опет то помало гњави. Prvi put se susrećem sa nekim Šekspirovim delom i mogu reći kako mi je doneo pomešana osećanja. Da nije bilo delova na početku i kraju koji objašnjavaju radnju mislim da dosta delova ne bi razumeo. Iako se čini kao da je delo jednostavno, nije baš tako. Dosta delova u delu može biti konfuzno, ali ipak mislim da se na kraju mogu lako sve kockice sklopiti. Ako želite početi sa Šekspirom, mislim da je ova knjiga dobar početak.

Jedna od najpopularnijih knjiga na svetu. Svako bi trebalo da procita ovu ljubavno-tragicnu pricu.
