The Sabbath: Its Meaning for Modern Man

I read this as part of the EfM (Education for Ministry) seminar I mentor. I'm not sure why I never read "The Sabbath" before, but I'm so glad if finally made it to my bookshelf. It has opened up new meanings for the Sabbath to me. Herschel brings a calm, reflective, and spiritual deepness in awareness of living a life focused on being a Sabbath-minded person. Rooted in his Jewish heritage and tradition, it brings alive the Sabbath to me (as a Christian) that my tradition has not expressed (at least to me) before. I will return to his reflections on time as well as holiness, eternity, soul, and spirit again and again. Some quotes paraphrased: "Time is eternity in disguise" and "Sabbath is the most precious gift God has presented to humankind."
