it was ok
bookshelves: 19th-century, british, fiction, historical, romance, audiobooks

Unfortunately I didn't like this book nearly as much as I thought I would. I found both the heroine and hero bland, which is especially disappointing given Annabelle is a smart vice's daughter who's a suffragist and part of the first cohort of women admitted to Oxford. There was too much damsel in distress stuff, and I didn't get why Annabelle was so attracted to and actually sleeps w/ Montgomery given that he doesn't support her cause (at first). Even the excellent audiobook narration didn't save this for me.
