really liked it

The final book of the series. I must say the ideas were great across the series. Each book had some good plot element. This one too had good plot elements - a land shark threatening one of the protagonists' family store, a sinister basketball coach, misunderstanding between protagonist and the teacher she has to impress. With all these elements it should have made an awesome book,. What with a basketball match to end the story. But once again the author drops the ball.

I mean it is a decent read. As have been the earlier ones. That is why I have continued to read. But could have been so much more. With just a bit of build up around each of the conflicts and a neat closure. I know authors consider it old fashioned to be dramatic. But totally underplaying also doesn't help. Come on - the readers too need some kick. Actually this book was better than the earlier ones as there was not that much of an attempt to impart any social messages. That way the story felt more real and immersive.

Overall its an ok series. Readable. Not sure how children will perceive it. As an adult reader wanting to re-live childhood, ok if you have read all Blytons and stuff and got nothing better to read.
