“You can justify anything if you do it poetically enough.”

This review is extremely late but here it is!

I'm normally not interested in these kinds of books, but...wow. This book completely changed my mind on "dark academia" (if one would consider this book in that genre). The story gripped me from the first page and even after I finished it, I couldn't stop thinking about it.

This story centers around Oliver and his friends who attend an elite Arts college. They are about to embark on their last year, but then something goes wrong. The characters have to try to deal with the aftermath of something that could change their futures.

Characters

These are going to be short descriptions, but I think it's better to learn about these characters as the story goes on.

Oliver - The main character.

Richard - The "best" actor of the group who tends to be a rather intense person.

James - A character who appears sweet but there's more to him than meets the eye. He's also a great actor.

Meredith - A talented actress who is also beautiful.

Alexander - A talented actor who's gay.

Wren - She's more complex than she first appears; she's Richard's cousin.

Filippa: An actress who is one of Oliver's closest friends. She's is level-headed and seems to view things from an unbiased perspective.

Writing

The writing in this story was beautiful.

Overall Thoughts

This book enchanted me from the first page and it made me want to know what happened. I loved the dynamic between the characters; I was cheering for them, angry at them, and I could feel the tension between them during certain scenes. This book was a rollercoaster and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a darker story and complex characters.

Ah, thank you! It's not as detailed as I would like it to be, but I figure it's better than nothing, haha.
