Overall, I would give this a 3.5. Buffy is very important to me, and Kiersten White toes the line of Buffy fanfic (seriously I definitely have unpublished fanfic somewhere that has so many elements of this book, whoops) and making the series her own.

The relationship with Artemis and Athena "Nina" is a bit forced for me. It hits a little too hard on the nail for me, and aspects of the twins-ness is off. Plus they just come off as incredibly obnoxious and whiny. Rhys and Cillian make up for it though.

I ended up getting the Barnes and Noble copy for the extra Faith scene, because god I love Faith. Is it worth it? Maybe, maybe not, but I hope she pops up more in future books.

The aspect I did like about this book is seeing Buffy through the eyes of people who have been directly hurt by her, even though she's not aware of them. The last season of the show shows the Watchers being blown up, and I'm probably not the only person who has given that a second though. But it IS the loss of something. And the aspect of perhaps there is only one Slayer because more than one in a room together is too much? I did enjoy that as well.

Overall, it made me miss Buffy (which I've recently rewatched, so I turned on Angel instead) and I'll probably continue the series, but without the Buffy ties, I'm not 100% sure I would have enjoyed it.
