Alan Banks has had bad news... an old flame, possibly his "first love" has died. He was sad to hear it, and mystified when a mutual friend called to tell him that "his" Emily had wanted her to tell him something after she died. The news was devastating and would have long-term repercussions. Meanwhile there is the "red wedding". A terrible crime, but the perpetrator is surely the man who killed himself in the basement? Following the doubts of the pathologist and his own misgivings, Banks follows the clues and discovers there is more to the story. Recommended for those who love a good English who-done-it.
