I received an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley. As always, thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I read Devil Wears Prada years ago - well before the movie came out. I enjoyed the movie as well! I did not see the need for a sequel, so I never actually read book 2. Given that it's been probably 13+ years since I read the original, I am not sure why I didn't pick up the sequel, other than it didn't have the best reviews. And maybe I didn't care for Andy much.
That being said, Emily was always one of my favorite characters, made even more so by Emily Blunt playing her in the movie. (Apparently she's in book 2 as well? Ah well.) This book focuses on her and some new friends, Miriam and Karolina, though there is a brief popup of Andy and Miranda. (Did Andy name her daughter CLEMENTINE? I cannot.)
Overall, this was a light read that I needed and have been looking for the past few weeks. Emily is wonderfully brash, and I even enjoyed Miriam and Karolina. I would love to see this turned into a movie with Emily Blunt (and of course some wonderful guests appearances!) Overall, there isn't anything earth shattering or new here - the story is a bit predictable overall. And the obsession with weight is still a bit too much for me.
