I can't imagine any book regarding women's role in World War II will get less than 3 stars from me, because I am going to devour the book no matter what. This one is probably a 3.5 overall for me. The book is a little unfocused, and occasionally takes awhile to figure out where the tangents are going and how they relate back.

I googled Dorothy Braden Bruce after finishing the book, finding pictures and interviews of the now 97 year old woman. And almost instantly burst into tears. At Women in Aviation conferences, I've had the pleasure of listening to the WASPs speak of their time during WWII and tend to have the same reaction. These women are absolutely amazing and didn't realize they were paving the way for so many to follow. They just.... didn't want to be teachers or fit whatever mold society had set for them. And it's absolutely delightful to get to experience their stories. These women are responsible for shortening our involvement in the war - they are brilliant and creative and decrypted Japanese codes and sent faux codes. It's just amazing.
