This is a Judging Book Covers Podcast book, so I don't usually write reviews and just let the episode do the talking (heh.) But I a. devoured this book after b. expecting to absolutely hate it. So I just want to get some thoughts out really quick.
I *hate* the alternate "what if" decision points dual plot line stories. If/Then left me SO ANGRY and ruined it for me forever. I'll be happy to rant about that musical to anyone who wants to listen. This book made up for all the times I've hated this trope in the past.
While it's portrayed as a love story, I don't think it is so much as a "coming of age" kind of story. What do you call that point in your life when you start to get your shit together? It's that point.
Anyways, this book made me cry because of how much I related to it, particularly the storyline involving the main character getting into a hit and run and having to be in the hospital and relearning to walk.
Anyways, don't shy away from this book like I did. It was a quick read, and truly led me to believe that soulmates = best friends, not partners.
