it was amazing
bookshelves: published-2017, young-adult, read-2017, read-2018, for-podcast, stars-5
Read 2 times. Last read August 7, 2018 to August 8, 2018.

Reading it again for JBC and the impact hasn't lessened I've already seen things I missed the first time (because SO MANY TEARS.)

Original Review: I truly think everyone should try to read this book. We all have our biases, the media is a major issue in this country, and this book is beautiful and horrific all at once. This isn't just a book about the aftermath of a cop shooting an unarmed teenager, it is about the power of making your voice heard, the power of words, the power of a community. And I'm so glad it lived up to the hype.

Quotes Meghan Liked

Angie Thomas
“Once upon a time there was a hazel-eyed boy with dimples. I called him Khalil. The world called him a thug.
He lived, but not nearly long enough, and for the rest of my life I'll remember how he died.
Fairy tale? No. But I'm not giving up on a better ending.”
Angie Thomas, The Hate U Give
