Reading The Young Wives Club by Julie Pennell was very enjoyable and such a delight!

Following four best friends who have grown up together in Toulouse, Louisiana encounter life dramas and experience hardships as newly graduated high school women who yearn for love.

Laura Laundry, wanted to get out of the small town as soon as possible. Dropping out of high school her junior year she follows her high school sweetheart and football star to LSU. Everything has been about Brian, but when the going gets tough does she stand by her man or have a life for herself? Next you meet Madison Blanchette, who I think is the bad girl chick of the group. The one who takes risks in life to have fun. She has always had her sights for Cash Romero, the bad rock star boy who won’t commit to her. Learning that her parents are struggling financially she takes it upon herself to earn the money in her own way. What will she gain in her journey? Does she take the blinders off to see that there is more to Cash then what she sees? Claire Thibodeaux, the preacher’s wife, has the “perfect life”; well… everyone thinks she has the perfect life. Learning from her friend and cousin Madison that Claire’s husband has not been truly honest with her, Claire takes it upon herself to be gracious in the time of need. Does it help her marriage or hinder? Last is Gabrielle Vaughn. She has had a hard adolescent life with her mom going to prison for money issues, learning she can’t go to the university she wanted too and is embarrassed on how her life has turned out. Since meeting Tony at a nightclub, who she has fallen head over heels for, she has been dishonest on who she really is. When someone close to them learns the truth, will she be able to confess her secrets or lock them down tight?

Heartwarming, light hearted and an all around good story about four friends who are there for each other through thick and thin! Even though the POV’s change with each chapter, I thought it would be hard to follow, when really it wasn’t. Each chapter flowed into the next.
