Read this book for Fableulous.
Some quick thoughts before the podcast episode:
I've had this book since the book signing in 2016, and I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to read it. I am usually not a magical realism fan at ALL, so I get why I was against it for awhile. That being said, apparently I like it with a mixture of horror and Brooklyn.
This book is very polarized on my Goodreads feed, and I get why. It's weird as hell, and if I didn't have a love for Baba Yaga and weird books, I probably would have groaned at it too. I love that there is next to no love conflict in this book - seriously, I think it helps me enjoy this book so much more. It also has classroom discussion questions (maybe we will work it into the podcast? Who knows!) and I can definitely see it being a book I would have had a love/hate relationship with in school.
TL;DR, if you like Baba Yaga, go for it. If you love weird magical realism and horror combinations, go for it.
