The Legacy of Buchanan's Crossing

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review. The Legacy of Buchanan’s Crossing by Rhea Rhodan was a well-written, evenly paced book. The characters are delightful and well-rounded. Cayden Sinclair is a wonderfully quirky Goth / Witch who made me laugh and cringe from time-to-time. Clint MacAllen is frustratingly obtuse at times, but he is still a likeable and believable hero. I enjoyed the story a great deal, including all of the little twists and turns Ms. Rhoden included – from the hilarious Raven familiar to the obsessed and malicious villain – the story was a delight to read and held my attention. Speaking as a well-seasoned Practitioner there are many books about witchcraft that leave me cringing and wanting to throw things at the foolishness written (even as fiction), The Legacy of Buchanan’s Crossing did not since the fictionalized witchcraft theme was treated with deference and no silliness, other than the raven (who I adored!). I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great love story with a bit of magic thrown in!
