The frightening thing about this book is that Colie's memories and terrors of high school humiliation and loneliness are so very real, they will have you spinning back in time reliving your own darkest moments.

Colie arrives in a sleepy North Carolina beach town, assigned to spending the summer with her eccentric aunt. Colie's struggles with self-worth meet their destiny this summer when she befriends two older girls at a nearby diner. As Colie begins to see and understand the examples of real friendship, her assumptions and evaluations of her own self naturally also come under scrutiny.
