it was amazing
bookshelves: my-childhood, youth, classic, re-read, 2014, 1991

This was a favorite when I was a kid, but I haven't reread it in ages. It absolutely still stands up. I love Kit, and I sincerely admire her ability to withstand life in the Puritan colony because I don't think I could have managed it. William was far less of a jerk than I remembered, mostly just very young and concerned with what people thought - much like Judith, who proves that 16 year old girls have always been 16 year old girls. The town, though - yikes. Still hard to read through a lot of that. As always, adore Nat, and Hannah and Prudence and the perfect ending.
