The recipe for this intriguing book was 1 part John Muir, 1 part Jack Kerouac's On the Road, with a sprinkling of sound science.

I did try to find the OSI in the Hoh Valley, but ended up enjoying the hike and the surroundings more than any specific square inch. Hint: don't ask the rangers where it is.
