it was amazing
bookshelves: historical-fiction, literary-classics, best-of-2018
Read 4 times. Last read February 4, 2018 to February 16, 2018.

Powerful and haunting reminder of the tragedies of war, of the dehumanization of modern warfare, of the suffering that those who fight in wars must bear, of the isolation that comes with forgetting one's humanity, and of the power we all hold to remember our own humanity when we first remember the humanity of our enemies.

One of my favorite books I teach every year. The emotions in this book are raw.

Rating: 4.5 Stars (Excellent).
