really liked it

There are many clever things about this book but the cleverest of all is the three word sentence that comes five pages from the end. The clever thing about it is the viewpoint. Those words made me want to start the book all over again to see whether I could have interpreted it differently if I had been more receptive to nuances that I probably missed.
There are some dumb things about this book - mostly the things that make reviewers write pejoratively about it being a literary Groundhog Day - but the dumbest of all is to write the five pages that follow that sentence - those three words - five syllables.
The novel stutters to a conclusion when Atkinson could - should - have taken a pair of surgical scissors to those last few pages of the manuscript - snip, snip. But she just couldn't let it go.
