I love the world of this series and N.K. Jemisin's skill with plot and worldbuilding. I really enjoyed the first book but this was on another level. Very character-driven, with intrigue and political plots and such a vivid society. It made me care about everyone and it was so intense, not shying away from the darkness in people but also showing a hopeful side, which I really appreciated. I'm here for unconventional fantasy settings and I can't wait to read more of N.K. Jemisin's work.
