it was amazing
bookshelves: youthful-stories, ya-fiction, amazing-young-adult, dystopian

I first read this book in 6th grade and really enjoyed it. I've read it since and stil feel the same way. It has a lot of symbolism that could be taken at different levels. It is a story of a boy who lives in a world without agency. There is no color, no feelings, and no pain. In an attempt to creat an utopia the government has elliminated all that is negitive in the world, but as a result has also elliminated all that is good as well. A great coming-of-age book!
