It would be unfair to the reader and a disservice to the author to convey any details of Descent other than that you will not want to put this book down. It’s rare to find a “page-turner” that is so beautifully written that the reader is torn between racing to discover what will happen and languishing over the author’s stunning prose. Full of moments of breathtaking brutality and heartbreaking grace and told from multiple perspectives, Descent is almost holographic in effect. Fully three-dimensional character details and plot elements are revealed with such precision and exquisite timing that the reader recognizes this is not merely a compulsively readable thriller about a cast of characters and their particular circumstances but an achingly gorgeous reflection on the human condition that lingers long after having read the last sentence.Tim JohnstonDescent
