TC Boyle is emerging as one of my favorite authors of all time, and his talent seems to grow as the years go by. "Wild Child" is a great ensemble of short stories, with no discernable theme, with plots all over the place like a Venezuelan pro baseball player in the United States having to go back home to attend to his kidnapped mother, to an alcoholic dude charged with child endangerment after having his daughter drive them home because of being too wasted. All the stories (with the exception, inexplicably, of the titular "Wild Child" story, which is a clunker) are brilliant and further demonstrate Boyle's burgeoning talent.
