Naked Economics: Undressing the Dismal Science
The average investor probably can't beat the market and shouldn't try is probably the single most important take-away from the book. While the book is rather breezy, it introduces concepts in tandem with a particular application of the concept. This works particularly well, especially toward the end of the book when international trade and developing economies are tackled. The book dabbles in politics a bit, but the author doesn't seem to push a particular belief structure beyond one that analyzes political decisions in the face of economic realities and mistakes made by governments and political actors (though, one senses a centrist leaning).
