it was ok
bookshelves: mystery
Read from March 27 to 29, 2010

i thought this book was going to be different then what it was. i was hoping it was on the supernatural side. it wasn't. but it was an ok mystery! the book starts off with some1 finds the skeleton of a person and a baby in the road on a southern plantation. plantation of which belongs to the once great carr family. the old mansion on the plantation is owned by an ill mean old lady. martha. strokes leave her bedridden and she needs to be takin care off. thats where her granddaughter julie cames in. her cousin matt asks her to help in her care. and to return to the mansion she hated living in as a child. she hates her mean grandma martha be she agrees. her and 2 other women take turns taking care of martha. julie's ex-boyfriend alan an archeologist has permission from matt to do a series of digs on the plantation to find out where or if the skeletons found on the road were from the grounds of the plantation, as long as its far away from the house so martha doesn't know. most of the book has julie dealing with the past of the old house, martha, mrs. donner (1 of the other woman takin care of martha) & mr. donner, going back n forth to the dig that alan is supervising, a cute dog, people breaking in to the house.
it did hold my interest to find out who the skeletons were. oh course u dont find that out til the very end of the book of course. barbara michaels writing style here is ok. at times she can be a lil vague. i did find the ending interesting who the skeletons belonged to. but it could of been better how she explained things. this book didn't have a wow to it. i mean yeah i did hold my interest. but there was nothing spectacular about the book. it was just an ok "mystery". in the past i have read books again, months or yrs later after reading them. this will not be one of them.
