really liked it
bookshelves: all-fiction, suspense-thriller, miss-trees, four-star-fiction

A lot of interesting little sub-themes in this one, including viral marketing, internet lies, and fake reviews to sell books. There's also a message about forgiveness (of all things!).

Coben does a great job of conveying the parents' love for their daughter. He incorporates complex emotions, philosophical conundrums, and social ills into the story, as well as humor, wit, and sarcasm.

This is not Coben's tightest story. There's a dead giveaway about Dan right in the prologue! I figured it out right away, and kept telling myself all the way through that I must be wrong. I wasn't. Considering the flaws, perhaps Caught only deserves three stars. BUT---when my daily reading time came around, this was the book I wanted to reach for first. It was also the one I thought about when I was doing other things throughout my day. I have to factor these things into my final rating and grant it that fourth star.
