I read this because I had seen comparisons drawn between this story and Anathem. I can see the parallels, but I found them to be mostly superficial. There are monks here, whose primary focus is knowledge rather than religion, but otherwise they are very different than those of Anathem, and the story itself is utterly different.

I had mixed feelings about the story, but it did have some interesting ideas.
