As Amy and Dan Cahill's Grandmother Grace died, they have to decide on accepting one milloin dollars from her will or taking on a challenge that can make them the most powerful people in the world. They compete with the Holt family, Ian and Natalie Kabra, superstar singer/actor Jonah Wizard, the annoying Starling triplets, a former Russian spy named Irina Spasky, and "Uncle" Alistair Oh. Their firet clue leads them to the library where thay find a man named Richard Saunders who is actually Benjamin Franclin who is also a member of the Cahill family. They receive an almanac along with Alistair Oh who steals the almanac and the house catches on fire. They take their au pair Nellie along with them to Philadelphia to find the next clue. The Starling are caught in an explosion so they had to retire to recover. They find a hint to travel to Paris and recovered the almanac from Irina Spasky who got it from the other competetors. They enter the Paris Catacombs to find bones marked with numbers. They end up in a cemetary with the graves of the original Cahills and a vase. Inside the vase is a vial and Dan solves that anagram found with it. The vial is shortly stolen by the Kabras. Amy comes up with the idea to go to Vienna, Austria
