Jacob Slichter is an excellent writer and provides an interesting perspective on the music industry. As the guy in Semisonic who wasn't deemed sexy or particularly interview-worthy, he took advantage of being overlooked to observe up-close the manipulations and machinations around him. What do the musicians that aren't consumed by women and drugs think about? Business, apparently, mixed with some guilt that they aren't reading better books. It's a fun read.
