did not like it
bookshelves: fiction, mystery

I read this book at the recommendation of my friend, Rick Paul. He thought I would enjoy the academic squabbling between professors, which I mostly did. I had trouble with the believability of the deep and abiding friendship between the four friends, the level of scholarship at the undergraduate level, and the time frame covered in the book, especially at the end. At one point the mystery was working quite well, but it lost steam, and I found the final 80 pages or so to be a bit muddled. It is not a title that I would keep on my shelf, nor would I recommend it (sorry, Rick). I did actually finish it, but I put it down several times thinking I would not go back to it.
