The year is 1968, and Richard Perry, seventeen years old, has just graduated from high school and enlisted in the army. He's sent to Vietnam, where, in the face of death, he learns a lot about himself, friendship, racism and brotherhood. Like any book about Vietnam, this is difficult to read at points, but it's a good story, and Perry has a strong voice.
