I'm guessing when I read this - definitely after 2001. The film was magnificent.

YES! Watched the film before reading the short story and it was one of the rare times that the film was infinitely more engaging. I loved that tiny house with the stable door and miles away from anywhere, by the sea that after much pleading, dear M rented us a similar venue for a week a few years back.
