What an amazing story of courage and character. This story of Scott's fated journey to the south pole is detailed with stories of survival in the most inconceivable conditions. Gerry-Girard wants us to understand the tenacity, bravery, courage, and most important the moral character of all his companions. He wants us to know that this expedition, though some were lost, was not in vain. He tells us of the discoveries that were made that benefit all men. He tries to help us to understand why men explore. A bit hard to read at times with descritions of supplies and geography, but well worth it.
