It took me about 50 pages to get into Heart’s Blood, but once I did, I couldn’t put it down. The story had a perfect blend of mystery, romance, and fantasy. Marillier has an amazing ability to weave a compelling story and create complex characters that you care about. What’s so great about the main character, Caitrin, is her ability to be optimistic when everything in her life tries to pull her down. And Anluan is extremely flawed physically and emotionally, but this only made you love him more. I definitely recommend this book for those of you who love a hard core fantasy book.
