Forever Is Now by Kimber Vale it the story of Chance Ralan and Alexander Bremen, high school friends, musicians, closeted lovers. They are separated by Alex's abusive homophobic father and pursue separate careers. Alex hears a song on the radio that has special meaning to them both and starts out on a path to get revenge. Along the way the two men deal with their personal and combined demons which eventually brings them back together.

The story concentrates on Alex and Chance as adults, glosses over their high school days. I feel that it would have enhanced the story line to give that portion of their lives a bit more development. Their separation in high school was the trigger for both of their adult lives.

The development of Alex and Chance as adults shows them to be complex individuals. They both have their own issues and watching them sort out drives the novel to its conclusion. It would have been nice to see a bit more character development of the supporting cast members, but on the flip side, that can be achieved in sequel.

Forever is now would be a great summer vacation read.
